Music catalogue acquisitions

Virtuoso Music acquires masters and publishing from songwriters, artists, labels, publishers and estates, in whole or in part. Once a catalogue joins ours, the same team administers the rights and works to grow its income.

What we look for

  • Masters

The recordings you own, in whole or in part.

  • Publishing

Your share of the songs themselves, the melody and lyrics.

  • Income history

A record of what the music has earned, even if it is modest or uneven.

  • Clear ownership

Paperwork showing how the rights came to be yours.

What to have ready

Part of this is enough to begin. The rest helps once we review the catalogue in detail.

  • Royalty statements, ideally covering the last few years
  • Split sheets showing who wrote or owns what share
  • Contracts, such as publishing, recording, distribution or assignment agreements
  • A list of the songs or recordings, with any identifying codes you have

How it works

  1. Enquiry

Send the form below. Financial details are optional at this stage, and what you share is treated in confidence.

  2. Initial review

We assess fit and may ask follow-up questions.

  3. Information and due diligence

If we proceed, we ask for documents such as agreements, registrations and royalty statements, and we check the chain of title.

Questions

Can I sell only part of my catalogue?

Yes. You can sell a whole catalogue, a share of it, or just some songs or recordings.

What’s the difference between masters and publishing?

Masters are the recordings. Publishing is the song itself, the melody and lyrics. You might own one, the other or both, and we look at all three.

What makes a catalogue valuable?

A steady history of income, clear ownership and accurate records. Every catalogue is different, so we look at each one on its own terms.

Will I lose creative control?

It depends on the deal. We’ll be clear about what changes and what doesn’t before anything is agreed.

Do I need to share my income figures to start?

No. Financial details are optional when you first get in touch, and we may ask for them later.

Will what I share stay confidential?

We only share your enquiry with the people who need to assess it. If you’d like a confidentiality agreement first, just ask.

Will every enquiry get an offer?

No. We look at each catalogue case by case and may decide not to make an offer.

Tell us about your catalogue

A few details are enough to start. Leave optional fields blank and share more later if you prefer.

What happens next

  1. We read every message ourselves.
  2. We reply by email, with questions if we need more detail.
  3. If there is a fit, we arrange a call to talk it through.

Prefer email? [email protected]

We handle enquiries with care and share them only with the people who need to see them to assess the opportunity. If you would like a confidentiality agreement in place before sharing detail, tell us and we can discuss one.
