Music rights management
For artists, songwriters, producers and publishers, Virtuoso registers your music correctly and follows the income it earns, wherever it is played.
What is rights management?
Rights management makes sure your music is registered, credited, paid for and protected. Accurate administration decides whether the money reaches the people entitled to it.
Registration
We register your songs and recordings, so every use can be traced back to you.
Records
We keep credits, splits and codes accurate, so nothing goes missing.
Royalties
We follow the money from streams, radio and live shows and check it arrives.
Protection
We spot unlicensed use and agree licences when someone wants your music.
Growth
For catalogues we manage, we build audiences through creator campaigns and sync licensing, which widens the music’s reach and its income.
One song, two sets of rights
Every release carries two sets of rights. Knowing which you hold is the first step, whether you want them administered or are considering a sale.
Master
The recording
The finished recording, the exact version people hear.
How it earns: When the recording is streamed, downloaded, broadcast or played in public.
Publishing
The song
The words and melody, whoever records them.
How it earns: When the song is performed, broadcast, streamed or reproduced.
Sync
Both together
When the recording and the song are licensed together for film, TV, adverts or games.
How it earns: A fee for each licence, shared between the owners of both.
We look after both kinds of rights, and we acquire masters, publishing or both.
How it works
Tell us about your music
The songs and recordings you hold, and any agreements already in place.
We review
We look at ownership, registrations and where income comes from today.
Agree the scope
We set out in writing what we will look after and how.
Questions
What is rights management?
Making sure your music is registered properly, so that when it earns money, the money finds its way to you.
What’s the difference between masters and publishing?
Masters are the recordings. Publishing is the song itself, the melody and lyrics, and it earns separately from any recording.
Do I still own my music?
Yes. Managing your rights doesn’t change who owns them, and ownership would only ever change under a separate written agreement.
What if I already have a publisher or a distributor?
Tell us what’s already in place. We’ll look at how it fits before suggesting anything.
Who do you work with?
Songwriters, artists, producers, publishers, managers and people working in licensing.
How do I start?
Use the contact form and choose Rights management, or email us. Tell us a little about your music and what you own.
